The North Central Chapter is a professional voluntary association founded in 1987 by 6 people with a mission to promote networking and the exchange of technical information on common ESD related subjects. From those first 6 members, the North Central Chapter membership has grown and now averages more than 100 members throughout Minnesota, Western Wisconsin, Iowa, and North and South Dakota. Today, chapter members include Engineers, Technicians, Production Management, Quality Assurance and Reliability, Research, Sales and Marketing, Education, and Purchasing professionals. Our chapter members find the help and resources they need through educational programs, technical discussions, facility tours, and active networking during quarterly meetings. Also, the chapter's newsletter, Common Ground, covers chapter activities and a review of the technical discussion held during the previous quarterly meeting. You may also learn more by reading the Chapter Bylaws. In August 1914, Sir Ernest Shackleton placed an ad in a London newspaper: "Men wanted for hazardous journey, small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful, honor and recognition in case of success". Over five thousand people answered the ad. Shackleton chose 28 and began a two-year trail of wind, ice, snow and endurance as he attempted to make the first crossing of the Antarctic on foot. The mission failed, but Shackleton and his men left a record of honor and courage that endures to this day. The North Central Chapter cannot guarantee that much excitement, but we are personally inviting you to help make our chapter the best in the country with your membership! Share your experiences, improve the chapter through your ideas, and have a lot of fun too! We promise a safe return! |
